Jim Dinning

Jim Dinning is the chair of the board of Western Financial Group and Export Development Canada. As well, he is the chair and director of a number of public and private companies and not for profit organizations. His community work includes co-chairing Calgary United Way's Poverty Reduction Coalition and serving as a Director of the Norlien Foundation.

Mr. Dinning served as executive vice president, TransAlta Corporation from 1997 to 2004. Prior to that, he held several key positions during his 11 years as a member of the legislative assembly in Alberta, including his term as provincial treasurer from 1992 to 1997.

Mr. Dinning is a graduate of Queen's University with two degrees: a Bachelor of Commerce in 1974 and a Masters in Public Administration in 1977. He received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Calgary in 2002.

Mr. Dinning is married, has four children and resides in Calgary.
