L. Jacques Ménard, O.C.
L. Jacques Ménard is President of BMO Financial Group, Québec and Chairman of BMO Nesbitt Burns, one of the country's leading investment firms.
Mr. Ménard is currently a director with Claridge Inc., the Montreal Heart Institute, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and the Montreal Alouettes. He is a past Chairman of the Board of Hydro-Quebec (1996-2001), the Montreal Exchange, Trans-Canada Options Corporation and the Investment Dealers Association; Mr. Ménard has also been a Vice-Chairman of Gaz Métro, and a Director of Rona inc. and Bowater Incorporated. He also sits on the Advisory Committee of the Institut des administrateurs de sociétés, the International Advisory Board of HEC Montréal, the Advisory Board of the Glendon College at York University and the Board of Directors of the Macdonald Stewart Foundation.
Mr. Ménard chaired the Task Force on the Sustainability of the Québec Health Care and Social Services System, established by the Quebec Government in December 2004. He recently published his first book Si on s'y mettait..., in which he formulates a series of specific recommendations in ten priority areas to ensure the future growth and prosperity of Quebec.
Mr. Ménard is an Officer of the Order of Canada.
He is married to Marie-José Ratelle and they have two children; Anne-Valérie and Louis-Simon.
