  • Australia Institute (Australia)
The Australia Institute was launched in 1994 to develop and conduct independent research and policy analysis and to participate forcefully in public debates. In addition, the Institute undertakes research and analysis commissioned and paid for by governments, business, unions and community organizations. Those involved in the Institute have each, from different viewpoints, been concerned about the impact on Australian society of the priority given to a narrow definition of economic efficiency over community, environmental and ethical considerations in public and private decision making.

  • Committee for Economic Development of Australia (Australia)
The Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA) is an independent, apolitical organization made up of business leaders, academics and others who have an interest in, and commitment to, Australia's economic and social development. CEDA undertakes objective research and discussion into issues affecting Australia's growth. While CEDA emphasizes the importance of improving productivity and economic efficiency in national development, it also recognizes the need to consider the equity dimensions of policy initiatives.

  • Institute for Public Affairs (Australia)
The Institute of Public Affairs is Australia's oldest private-sector 'think-tank'. It was established in 1943 and has been a significant player in the public policy debate ever since. Its aim is to promote an understanding and appreciation of the free society and free enterprise and, in so doing, to advance the interests of the Australian people.

  • Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research (Australia)
The University of Melbourne's Melbourne Institute is widely regarded as a national leader in economic and social research. It has a long-standing tradition of working closely with government, business and community groups, as well as achieving high academic standards. It has developed a particularly strong reputation for its research and policy analysis on unemployment, tax reform, and social security reform, and for its economic forecasts.
